Frequently Asked Questions
- Am I required to sell after submitting my information?
- No. Submitting the form only allows Cowboy Oil & Gas to contact you and discuss your options. You are under no obligation to sell.
- Who will contact me?
- Rand Roan or Craig Jobe, Cowboy Oil & Gas's landmen and primary points of contact, will contact you.
- Can I sell only part of my mineral interests?
- Yes. You may sell all or only a portion of your interests. A partial sale may provide cash now while allowing you to retain part of your ownership and the possibility of future royalty income.
- How will Cowboy Oil & Gas evaluate my mineral interests?
- We consider several factors, including the property's location, producing wells, nearby drilling activity, lease terms, ownership percentage, oil and natural gas prices and future development potential.
- What information do I need to provide?
- To request an initial call, simply provide your name, telephone number, email address and the county and state where your minerals are located. Rand or Craig can gather any additional information during your conversation.
- Can I submit nonproducing mineral interests?
- Yes. Cowboy Oil & Gas considers both producing and nonproducing mineral interests.
- Can I sell mineral interests that are currently leased?
- Yes. Mineral interests are sold even if they are subject to an existing oil and gas lease. The lease remains in effect after the sale.
- How long does the review process take?
- The timing depends on the property and the available ownership information. After speaking with you and conducting an initial review, Rand or Craig will explain the next steps.
- Is there a fee to receive an offer?
- No. There is no fee to have Cowboy Oil & Gas review your mineral interests or present an offer.
- How is the purchase price determined?
- The purchase price depends on several factors, including ownership, location, current production, nearby drilling activity, lease terms, oil and natural gas prices and future development potential.
- How is the purchase price paid?
- After ownership is confirmed and the transaction documents are signed, payment is made according to the purchase agreement. The payment process and expected closing date will be explained before you agree to sell.
- What if my mineral interests are owned by a trust, estate or company?
- Cowboy Oil & Gas can evaluate interests held individually or through a trust, estate, partnership, limited liability company or other entity. Additional documents may be required later to confirm who is authorized to complete the transaction.
- What if I inherited the minerals but do not have complete records?
- You may still contact us. Rand or Craig can discuss what information may be needed to help identify and confirm your ownership.
- Should I consult an attorney, accountant or financial adviser?
- A mineral sale may have legal, tax and financial consequences. Mineral owners should consider consulting their own qualified advisers before completing a transaction.
